Programme for Active Learning
Play@ParkView is a Programme for Active Learning (PAL) for Primary 1 and 2 students.
Play@ParkView Overview
Play@ParkView is Park View Primary's unique and exciting implementation of the Programme for Active Learning, or PAL. PAL is an initiative by the Ministry of Education to realise a more balanced curriculum and facilitate the well-rounded development of students. PAL provides children with opportunities for exposure to a broad range of activities so that they can discover their aptitudes and interests.
Play@ParkView is a non-academic programme built into the curriculum for all Primary 1 and 2 students. Students will get to participate in the three domains: Visual Arts, Sports & Creative Movements and Outdoor Education. Play@ParkView is designed in the form of fun modular learning activities where students will develop confidence and creativity and be encouraged to explore and extend lessons learnt to their daily lives.
Character and Citizenship Education (CCE) and Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) are thoughtfully integrated into every PAL lesson to nurture core values and support students’ social and emotional growth. In addition, the incorporation of Emerging 21st Century Competencies (E21CC) within PAL for Primary 1 and 2 students ensures that experiential, hands-on learning is purposefully aligned with the development of essential life skills and future-ready mindsets. Together, these elements create a holistic learning experience that equips students with the values, skills, and dispositions needed to thrive in an ever-changing world.

The ‘Experience-Express-Reflect' Lesson Model
In order to provide a holistic PAL education, the lessons are crafted based on the three pillars.
They are:
Experience
Express
Reflect
Students will experience ‘hands-on’ activities through discovery and active participation using the ‘EER’ learning model. With the ‘hands-on’ experiences, students are given opportunities and avenues to express their thoughts and creative ideas. Students are encouraged to believe in their own ideas, to be confident and to be imaginative through looking at things from different perspectives. Most importantly, time is set aside for students to share their learning experiences. As they do so, they will discover more about themselves. They will also learn to better interact with their peers and develop their social and emotional skills.
Visual Arts Module
In Park View, the Visual Arts module focuses on ‘Doodling’. The aim is to provide students with the opportunity to experience the creativity and imagination involved in the world of cartooning and doodling. Through this module, students have the chance to discover their aptitude and interests, develop their confidence and creativity and hone their drawing and colouring skills through fun learning activities. Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) is also incorporated in every PAL lesson to promote positive social and emotional development in the students.
Primary 1

Outdoor Education Module
In this module, students learn to observe how plants grow and develop a lively curiosity about how nature brings colour and variety to the environment. Basic outdoor skills are also being developed, like preparing for outdoor trips and how to deal with creatures and plants in our environment. They are taken on outdoor trips which are slightly different from the usual learning journeys. These learning activities are designed to challenge students to move out of their comfort zone to the natural environment to enable the appreciation and love for nature. At the end of every lesson, time will be set aside for the students to express and reflect on their learning experiences.

The aims of this module are as follows:

To learn more about their adaptations of animals
To plan for an outdoor learning journey
To learn basic survival skills
To work in groups to explore the natural environment around them during their learning journey to Resort World Sentosa SEA Aquarium.

Sports and Creative Movement Module
Games Fiesta@PVPS is the PAL Sports & Creative Movement module developed by teachers of Park View Primary School.
The module is designed to achieve the four PAL objectives:
Students will develop their confidence and enjoy individual and group experiences through active participation.
Students will develop a sense of curiosity, creativity and adaptability through diverse PAL experiences.
Students will grow into self-directed learners with a strong social conscience and a desire to contribute to the wider community.
Students will learn to express themselves clearly and articulate their thoughts and ideas.
In this module, students explore a wide range of movements, sports, and modified games within a fun and engaging environment. The focus is not on mastering specific skills, but on developing students’ Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) competencies.
Through active participation, students are encouraged to enjoy the learning process while building confidence and developing a positive attitude towards physical activity. They will have opportunities to work both independently and collaboratively, fostering joy, teamwork, and mutual respect.
Students will also tap into their creativity by designing movements to music, experimenting with various sports equipment, and engaging meaningfully with their peers.
Throughout the module, students will develop key SEL competencies such as self-management, social awareness, relationship-building, and responsible decision-making—both individually and within a team context.
Each lesson will conclude with dedicated time for students to share, express, and reflect on their learning experiences, deepening their understanding and supporting their personal growth.
